MY SERVICES/OFFERINGS

TRAUMA-INFORMED EMDR

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly successful treatment for trauma that uses knowledge from neuroscience to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories.

I use EMDR as a treatment approach, or as part of an overall treatment plan to help address:

  • trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • anxiety and panic attacks

  • depression

  • stress

  • phobias

  • sleep problems

  • Grief and loss

  • Chronic pain

  • self-esteem and performance anxiety

Client-centred Psychotherapy

Non-judgemental, compassionate, and collaborative counselling to support you through life’s challenges in order to improve health and happiness. There is no one approach that is right for everyone and I work with you to integrate different therapies to help address your needs and goals.

INTENSIVES

I offer intensive treatment in which multiple EMDR and/or Flash sessions are completed all at once, over several hours up to consecutive days to help you accomplish important steps in your healing process.

New research shows that intensive therapy for trauma and stress can be extremely effective on symptom reduction and that clients can make as much progress in the condensed format as in standard weekly sessions. . Other benefits of an intensive approach to treatment include:

  • Reducing the amount of time in therapy and living with trauma symptoms

  • While there is a larger upfront cost, the shorter duration of treatment overall can save money over time.

  • Clients can access therapy online or through travel taking advantage of access to an excellent treatment option

  • Rather than having to schedule sessions on a weekly basis, clients can arrange for time off work, school or child care for the duration of treatment.

While many clients are good candidates for an intensive, some may do better with an ongoing therapeutic relationship. In some cases, an existing client may choose to pursue an intensive at a specific point in the therapeutic process. Please contact me to discuss whether intensive treatment might be right for you.

I believe that confidentiality is a vital component of counselling services and therefore I comply with all guidelines set by the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.  Your information is protected, and will not be shared without your permission. There are a few exceptions to this rule and this will be discussed in detail as part of your first session.

Fees

Consultation

I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation prior to booking the first session. This provides an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine if I’m the right therapist for you. It will also give me an opportunity to better understand the challenges you are experiencing and your expectations of therapy. Please email me to book a consultation.

Session Fees

Sessions are 50 minutes long and cost $155 per session. Longer EMDR sessions are also available and corresponding fees will be discussed as part of treatment planning.

Methods of payment include e-transfer or credit card.

Coverage

Therapy provided by a Registered Social Worker is covered by many private insurances or extended health benefit plans. While it is not currently covered by OHIP, fees can be deducted on your personal income taxes.

Cancellation Policy

I require a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancelled sessions. If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice you will be charged the full fee. This policy gives me time to offer your spot to another client who may be interested should you not be able to attend.
